FAQ
What is the Diceware method?
Diceware is a technique that selects random words from a list using dice rolls (or a secure generator). Combined, these words form a passphrase that is both very hard to guess and easy to memorize.
How many words make a secure passphrase?
Six words provide about 77 bits of entropy, a level considered safe against brute-force attacks. For highly sensitive use, seven or eight words strengthen security further.
Is a Diceware phrase safer than a classic password?
For the same memorization effort, yes. A passphrase of several random words resists attacks better than a short password full of symbols, while remaining far easier to remember.
